Our Directors

Hannah Barton, Musical Director

Hannah Barton is the Director of The Heartland Singers, the current Region 16 Small Chorus Champions, Sweet Adelines International.

Hannah grew up under the influence of barbershop thanks to both of her parents. She joined her first chorus when she was 12 years old. In 2000, Hannah joined five-time Sweet Adelines International Chorus Champions North Metro Chorus and sang with them for 18 years. Quartets have been an important part of Hannah's barbershop life and has included singing baritone with Spritzer, who was an International Quartet top-10 finalist eight times.

Hannah is an accomplished educator and coach, having received the Region 16 Larry Dale Coaching Achievement Award in 2014. She recently received her 25-year Sweet Adelines International longevity pin.

The women of The Heartland Singers have been thrilled to be under Hannah's musical leadership since 2018.

Leila Brown, Assistant Director

Leila Brown has spent much of her adult life as a Sweet Adeline. She joined the Orangeville Show Chorus in 1995 and sang with them for 23 years. She earned her designation as Certified Director from Sweet Adelines International in 2013 as part of their Director Certification Program, and was OSC Assistant Director for six years.

Leila joined The Heartland Singers as Assistant Director in 2019. She contributes to the musical excellence of the chorus in her teaching and directing, as a member of the Music Team, and by providing personal vocal instruction (PVIs) to individual members and coaching to quartets. Leila was awarded the Region 16 Larry Dale Coaching Achievement Award in 2018 in recognition of her coaching excellence. She is a regional faculty member, Webmaster of the regional website, and former Regional Communications Coordinator. Leila recently received her 25-year Sweet Adelines International longevity pin.

During the day, Leila is an emergency manager and has been responding to the impacts of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. When not working or singing, Leila and her husband Henry like to take their cameras and their new dog Bones out for a hike!
