    We extend our congratulations to Betty Anne Butcher on being chosen as Sweet Adeline of the Year 2025-26. 

    This award is well deserved, with many wonderful accolades from her fellow members:
    • Betty Anne consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership, unwavering support, and an infectious enthusiasm that uplifts our entire chorus.
    • Betty Anne is such a wonderful example of sisterhood. She is always ready to greet with her huge smile and, if you are lucky, one of her warm hugs.
    • She is a wonderful person to have on the risers near you. She has a very sweet, angelic lead voice.
    • Betty Anne is positive, energetic, dedicated, committed member of the chorus
    • She is a pillar of dependability, always stepping up when needed—whether it’s guiding new members, offering encouragement, or bringing her positive energy to every rehearsal. Her warm and welcoming personality makes everyone feel valued and inspired. Betty Anne’s dedication to the betterment of our chorus goes beyond just singing—she actively contributes to our success through her reliability, teamwork, and commitment to our shared passion for music.
    • Betty Anne is a committed and energetic member of our chorus. She is ready to lend a hand, and we can depend on her to be positive and smiling during rehearsals. She does a great job leading us in our physical warmups, greets and encourages potential and new members, and is always ready to recognize the contributions and successes of others. Betty Anne has a warm and encouraging personality that greatly benefits our Chorus!

      She has engaged with all the new members this year at chorus, organized the newbie orientation, followed up with new prospective members and is constantly checking in with members on the risers and at rehearsal.
    • Betty Anne has a lovely personality lively and very approachable. Her energetic spirit is seen in her support of the warm up team and motivation of others.
    • She is integral to the membership team helping and conducting both induction and Spotlight ceremonies. Betty Anne is always willing and available to support our community events and performances.

    She truly deserves to shine her light this year as our 2025 “SAOTY” recipient.  Her influence makes The Heartland Singers stronger, and she truly embodies the spirit of this award.

    SINGERS WANTED!

    We're always on the lookout for enthusiastic voices in all vocal ranges to join our friendly and passionate chorus.

    Whether you're a tenor, lead, baritone, or bass, we invite you to join us! Music reading is not a requirement.

    Rehearsals are held every Tuesday at 7:15 pm at Westminster United Church, Mississauga.

    The Heartland Singers win 1st place at the 2024 Division A Competition for 3rd year in a row
    After another year of coaching, hard work and resilience in our ever-changing world, The Heartland Singers have again earned the top spot in the A Division (small chorus) of the Region 16, Sweet Adelines International competition. 

    As well, we place 4th overall in a stellar competition. 


    Lucky to again be able to compete at the beautiful St. Catharines FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre against some very fierce competitors, we give thanks to our Director, Hannah Barton, our coach, Erin Howden, our new members who worked so hard and to our longer-standing members who were cool as a cucumber with all the changes throughout the year. 


    We look forward to another interesting, challenging and, most of all fun, year!

    The Heartland Singers is calling all singers to come out to a night of auditions! Held in a different form, we will ask you to come prepared with a 30 second to 1 minute song, sang in a cappella (no musical accompaniment). From there, we will show you a glimpse into our world, full of inspiration and beautiful harmonies.

    THS wins 2023 Division A championship!

    In Lake Ontario Region 16's first in-person competition in four years, The Heartland Singers are thrilled to have won the Small Chorus Division A championship, earned a sixth-place finish overall, and Most Improved Chorus Award.

    After finally being able to gather for regular, in-person rehearsals and receive coaching for a full weekend retreat with Erin Howden, THS was ready! The first chorus to step out on the contest stage at the new R16 venue, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, The Heartland Singers performed their package: The Way You Look Tonight and You Make Me Feel So Young. They are humbled to be retaining the title of Division A Champions for another year!

    An outstanding retreat!

    The Heartland Singers had a fantastic retreat with coach Erin Howden and director Hannah Barton! We worked hard! And we loved having relaxed time together and just hanging out, too. Our retreat team planned an outstanding event, taking care of every wonderful detail. We can't wait to do this again!

    In Lake Ontario Region 16's first virtual competition, The Heartland Singers are thrilled to have won the Small Chorus Division A championship and earned a second-place finish overall.

    Following a two-year hiatus from in-person rehearsals due to COVID-19, THS welcomed the opportunity to gather and prepare for competition. After six rehearsals together, and excellent coaching from Erin Howden, THS recorded their contest package: Beyond the Sea, and You Make Me Feel So Young. THS members gathered together to view the Region 16 Soirée broadcast as the quartet and chorus video submissions were streamed and the winners announced. Members of The Heartland Singers are thrilled with the results and humbled to be retaining the title of Division A Champions for another year!

    The Heartland Singers is thrilled to announce their 2022 Sweet Adeline of the Year is Emily Hirtle! Emily's multiple nominations included appreciation of the many events that Emily planned for the chorus this past year, including our first outdoor gathering after many months of Zoom rehearsals, our holiday party, and the AGM and Installation where Emily received this award. In addition to being an event planner extraordinaire, Emily is always willing to help out wherever it's needed. Thank you for all that you do for THS, Emily!

    THS returns to in-person rehearsals!

    The Heartland Singers, after two years meeting virtually, have returned to in-person rehearsals! Following COVID-19 protocols, the chorus is enjoying hearing each others' voices and seeing each others' (masked) faces.

    Congratulations to Leila Brown, our 2021 Sweet Adeline of the Year! In addition to being named our SAOTY, voted on by our chorus members, Leila was also awarded the 2021 Heart Award, voted on by our Management Team. Thank you for your leadership, your heart, and especially your guidance and knowledge during this particularly challenging year! We love you!
